Feeding Guide

^ 1 scoop = 7.5g of powder; 1 scoop + 50ml of water = 56ml

This feeding guide is a general guide only. Every baby is different; your baby may need more or less infant formula. Newborn babies may not drink the full amount in the first weeks. Babies over 6 months should be offered solid food in addition to infant formula.

Directions

• Step 1: Always wash hands before preparing feeds. Clean and then sterilise all utensils with an approved steriliser or by boiling in a large pot with a lid, on the stove for 5 minutes.
• Step 2: Boil safe drinking water and allow to cool for 30 minutes. Consult feeding guide. Measure the required volume of cooled boiled water into a sterilised feeding bottle.
• Step 3: Use only the enclosed scoop, fill scoop and level off using the built-in leveller on the can. Avoid compacting powder.
• Step 4: Add the exact amount of powder to the water in the bottle. Always add 1 level scoop of powder for each 50mL of water. Cap the bottle and mix thoroughly by shaking gently or swirling the bottle to dissolve the powder.
• Step 5: Check the prepared feed is at the right temperature by testing on your wrist. Feed your baby immediately. Discard any unfinished feed within 1 hour (do not store).

It is safer to prepare each bottle as needed and use immediately after it is prepared. If a bottle of made-up formula is to be prepared in advance, store in the refrigerator and use within 24 hours. Storage: After opening, remove foil seal. Do not use if foil seal is damaged or missing. Store can in a cool dry place. Keep airtight and use within 4 weeks. Mark date of opening on can. Refer to the use by date on the base of the can.

A: The amount a baby will drink may vary from day to day. It is important to be guided by your baby and allow your baby to drink to satiation point, even if this means discarding any unused formula in the bottle. In the first weeks your baby may have 9 smaller feeds per day, by the time they are 5-6 months they will be having 4-5 larger feeds per day (refer to Feeding Guide). If baby is having around 6 or more wet nappies daily, growing well, thriving, and developing as expected then it is likely that baby is receiving enough formula.

A: It is completely safe for your baby to continue on a2 Gentle Gold® Premium infant formula (Stage 1) beyond 6 months, as your baby is starting on solids. Introducing solid foods provides additional nutrients which will help meet your baby’s nutritional requirements. If your baby is already settled on a2 Gentle Gold® Premium infant formula (Stage 1), remaining on this may be more beneficial than transitioning to a2 Gentle Gold® Premium follow-on formula (Stage 2), as there are many changes occurring with the introduction of solids, and this can be one aspect that remains the same, allowing you to focus on progressing with introducing a range of solids foods, in particular iron rich foods. If you find your baby is showing little interest in solid foods, it may be more beneficial to introduce a2 Gentle Gold® Premium follow-on formula (Stage 2), due to it containing a higher level of iron.
