This feeding guide is a general guide only. Every baby is different; your baby may need more or less follow-on formula. From the age of 6 months, your baby should be offered solid food in addition to follow-on formula. Not suitable for babies under 6 months.
Directions
- Step 1: Always wash hands before preparing feeds. Clean and then sterilise all utensils with an approved steriliser or by boiling in a large pot with a lid, on the stove for 5 minutes.
- Step 2: Boil safe drinking water and allow to cool for 30 minutes. Consult feeding guide. Measure the required volume of cooled boiled water into a sterilised feeding bottle.
- Step 3: Use only the enclosed scoop, fill scoop and level off using the built-in leveller on the can. Avoid compacting powder.
- Step 4: Add the exact amount of powder to the water in the bottle. Always add 1 level scoop of powder for each 50mL of water. Cap the bottle and mix thoroughly by shaking gently or swirling the bottle to dissolve the powder.
- Step 5: Check the prepared feed is at the right temperature by testing on your wrist. Feed your baby immediately. Discard any unfinished feed within 1 hour (do not store).
It is safer to prepare each bottle as needed and use immediately after it is prepared. If a bottle of made-up formula is to be prepared in advance, store in the refrigerator and use within 24 hours. Gradually Increase: Over the course of several days or a week, gradually increase the number of feeds using follow on formula while decreasing the number of stage 1 formula feeds. For instance, in one day you could replace a second feeding with a2 Gentle Gold® Premium follow-on formula, then a third, and so on until all feeds are using the stage 2 formula.
Observe for tolerance: During the transition, closely monitor your baby for any signs of digestive discomfort, allergies, or intolerances.
